BARBOUR’s SOUTH SHIELD

For over 150 years the Herd Groyne Lighthouse has been an iconic feature of the River Tyne. It still operates as a working lighthouse for navigation. Its distinctive design was adapted by Barbour for their original labels, of which this is the only example we have ever found. This style was featured in the Companies first mail-order catalogue of 1908.

The label is attached to this Early 20th Century Barbour’s South Shields Waxed Cotton Foul Weather Coat. We have had it in our archive for a good while but is now available to buy in our online store.
