GOODBYE TO 2023…

The New Year has started and our plans for 2024 are underway, but we’ve also taken the time over to look back at the last 12 months at all the amazing projects that we have been involved in.

January 2023 saw the opening of our new Showroom for clients in Central London’s Clerkenwell, housing an edited selection from our menswear collection and our vintage denim room. We retained many original features from its life as a former printworks, and the space was an immediate hit with our customers. August saw the final stages of renovations in the double-height basement, the home of our new Womenswear Rental Collection. The Womenswear collection officially launched in November, kicking off a new part of our business that we have been working up for some time.

We attended 5 amazing Kingpins shows in 2023, in New York, Amsterdam and Hong Kong (a showroom first!). Over these shows, we discussed the birth of Hot Rodding and its influence on menswear, and The California Gold Rush, with looks that have been some of our favourites so far. April in Amsterdam was extra special as we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Orta Anadolu, for whom we’ve been working since 2011. We were able to look through Orta’s archive to help tell its rich history and demonstrate its importance within the denim industry when helping to put together the concept and design for the booth, which was a Kingpins’ highlight! Spring of this year was busy, as the long-awaited Workwear exhibition in Rotterdam at the Nieuwe Instituut opened, curated by Eldina Begic, a fantastic exhibition that we were thrilled to be a part of. We also began our monthly Student Research Sessions, which have been a resounding success and will continue for 2024, in addition to more structured workshops for university classes.

Later in the year, we contributed to the much anticipated 100th-anniversary book for Belstaff – a true milestone! Though we are no longer involved with the Belstaff Archive after our help with its creation, we were happy to be involved in a small way, loaning what must be the oldest Bellstaff piece in the world for the publication (and no, that isn’t a typo!).

And finally, to top off what has been a busy and exciting year, in December we held a retail pop-up at our Clerkenwell Showroom, the first since our old shop closed in 2021. It was a great chance to meet with old customers and more importantly, raised over £850 for Centrepoint charity. We are looking forward to doing it all over again in December 2024!

A big thanks to everyone who shopped with us, read one of our books, sketched the collection, liked an Instagram post, or otherwise helped us on our way! Here’s to another great year!
