ON THIS DAY IN 1932…

Amelia Earhart embarked on a journey that would set the record for the first woman to fly solo across America, from LA to NYC.

The journey, which took 19 hours, was just one of Earhart’s many record-setting flights – such as the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic, set in May of the same year.

Earhart is immortalised by the many records she set and barriers she broke for women (not just in the aviation world), but also, by her death, which still remains a mystery today.
