THE LOST BOYS
This year’s Halloween movie special got a lot of love, so we thought it would be fun to unpick it a bit further!

The Lost Boys at The Vintage Showroom
We, of course, celebrated the classic ‘80s film ‘The Lost Boys’, which, as everyone knows, was the best vampire movie of all time —maybe the only exception being David Bowie in The Hunger, or this year’s Sinners.
As former costume designer Joel Schumacher directed it, the importance of building a strong aesthetic for his family of teen vampires was understood. Their wardrobe was an eclectic mix of new romantic, gothic western, with a pinch or two of punk and outlaw biker.
Trashed clothes, long leather jackets, killer jewellery, and a healthy disrespect for authority. Give them motorbikes, the Californian coastline, and its boardwalks as their playground – you have the perfect nomadic teen-outlaw family of counterculture anti-heroes.
For our little homage, we played with some killer pieces from our collection. Early biker jackets paired with fashion’s latest darling, the Hussars tunic; punk leather stud work is mixed with western elements, and splashes of red play across the rig. Add in a leather string vest top and a cropped-sleeve thrashed paint-splattered tee, and I feel we nailed the assignment.
All pieces from our archive are available to buy or rent.
